The most beautiful Canadian sights

Do you want to travel through Canada and are you curious about which sights you really shouldn't miss? We understand that! Canada is a beautiful country with its rich nature, interesting culture, and impressive wildlife. On this page we tell you which highlights in Canada you must have seen, as well as the places where you can experience the real Canada, further away from the crowd. Are you traveling with us?

Canada is a huge country. Canada is the second-largest country in the world after Russia. You will find the most impressive natural scenes in this vast and wild country: from the sky-wide clear blue lakes that are surrounded by meters high mountains to giant trees that extend far into the horizon. Along the coast, you'll find quaint fishing villages and rugged cliffs, while to the north you're surrounded by glaciers, ice expanses, and a wilderness dominated by wildlife.

These wild animals do not stick to borders and you can therefore see them scattered throughout Canada. You can spot one of the largest bear species here, such as black bears and grizzly bears. But you can also bump into moose and reindeer. On and around the water you will meet the most impressive marine mammals, such as orcas, seals, and humpback whales. And ever heard of the narwhal? Also known as the unicorn of the sea, this toothed whale species, with its long pointed horn, swims in the Arctic waters of the north.

Canada is so big that you can divide the country into many more parts than just east and west. Still, we think that's a good division because you have just as many highlights and highlights on both sides. Scroll down to discover our favorite sights of Eastern and Western Canada!

Eastern Canada Attractions

If you ask someone who is going to Canada where the tour takes place, you will probably hear that it is in the west. And that while in the east just as many highlights are hidden. That is extra fun because here it is even easier to surround yourself with the wilderness of the real Canada. Eastern Canada consists of the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. All regions where you will find the most beautiful national parks and most beautiful cities. Below you will find the sights of Eastern Canada.

Newfoundland

Newfoundland is one of the most pristine and special places in Eastern Canada. This island is located near the Labrador Peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean. Newfoundland has a long history. There have even been excavations here that indicate that the Vikings set foot ashore. The Newfoundland landscape consists of 10,000 kilometers of coastline and mountain ranges consisting mainly of stone, moss, and the occasional shrubbery. A unique landscape. The coast is especially beautiful. It is characterized by high cliffs and rugged rock formations where colorful fishing villages are hidden.

labrador

When you think of Labrador you probably immediately think of that faithful four-legged friend, but Labrador is also a Canadian peninsula. Together with Newfoundland, it is a province. Near the coast, the landscape resembles that of Newfoundland. The difference is that you have several fjords and beautiful mountain passes here. Ideal location for hiking. As with Newfoundland, you can do whale safaris from Labrador. There is a good chance that you will see a humpback whale or orca here.

Quebec

Quebec is both a Canadian province and the capital of this province of the same name. A French-speaking city with about 500,000 inhabitants. Quebec is located on the St. Lawrence River and the Cape Diamant and is, therefore, a city that consists of layers. For example, the beautiful Château Frontenac towers above the idyllic houses and winding river. A nice city to visit during your tour of Canada.

Nova Scotia

Located right below Newfoundland, the province of Nova Scotia is made up of scenic hiking trails, lighthouses, charming coastal towns, and rocky beaches. Nova Scotia has a little Scandinavian feel with its colorful fishermen's houses and romantic hills. A beautiful region on the water.

Ottawa

Ottawa is the capital of Canada. When you walk through the winding streets, along the river, and over the romantically designed bridges, you get the feeling that you are in Europe. In Ottawa, you will find many government buildings but also several interesting museums, such as the Canadian Museum of Nature and the Canadian War Museum. You will also find one of the oldest universities in the country, Saint Paul University.

Forillon National Park

One of the most beautiful national parks in Eastern Canada is Forillon National Park. This nature reserve is located at the very tip of the Gaspé Peninsula in the province of Quebec. Here you will find beautiful beaches surrounded by meters high rock walls. You can walk very well in this protected nature reserve and you can spot seals but also blue whales along the coast!

Wood Buffalo National Park

As the name suggests, Wood Buffalo National Park is home to many forest bison. A total of 5000 specimens live here. Wood Buffalo National Park was established to protect these immense animals and is therefore on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In addition to bison, because of the biodiversity and the large freshwater delta, whooping cranes, garter snakes, moose, black bears, wolves, lynx, beavers, brown bears, and hares also live here. A rich animal life that you can admire both from a car and the water. Another fun fact: Wood Buffalo National Park has been spared light pollution, making it one of the best Dark Sky Stations in the world. Bring on that galaxy and shooting stars!
