Why are Assyrians considered brutal and compared with the Mongols?
What did they do?

The Assyrians were a group of tribes from Mesopotamia (modern-day North Iraq and South East Turkey) who established and ruled a powerful empire from 900 BC to 600 BC. They were known for their use of strong iron weapons and their proficiency in horseback riding and siege warfare. However, their reputation for cruelty was notable even in an era known for brutality. They were known for committing brutal acts such as gouging out the eyes of prisoners, amputating limbs, castration and even burning victims alive. They were considered exceptionally cruel even by the standards of their time.
