Metaverse, robotics, and NFTs: what exactly do these technology trends mean and how can you leverage them? ? Read it in our article about7 tech trends in 2022

Every year we publish a new article about trends in the tech world. We base these on findings from the ICT research bureauGartnerand the presentations during CES, the world's largest tech trade show. The 2022 edition continues below.

Looking back 2020

2020 was an annoying time for many people, but like every year there were developments in technology and apps. Due to COVID-19, technology has become and is becoming increasingly important in our daily lives. Several chat and video services have reaped the benefits of this.

In our blog about tech trends from2020Among other things, it can be read that 4G will slowly make way for the upcoming 5G at the end of the year. However, this has not yet been implemented at all in our country. Vodaphone, KPN, and T-mobile are the first providers to use them. 5G is gradually being introduced on the Dutch networks and the adoption of 5G is only expected to increase further in 2022.

The total experience

It has been possible to order online from websites and stores for a while. It is of course much easier for the customer to take a look online to see what is in the collection. It is therefore not necessary to leave the house. For example, you would think that with time the physical shops disappear from the streets of cities/villages. However, this is not true. Consumers go to the city to enjoy some 'shopping'. It's like a day out.

Everything that can be bought in the store can also be bought online. It is therefore important that physical stores have one experiences that consumers are 'drawn' to their store and then switch back to purchasing. These stores have to be creative to offer the customer added value to come to the store.

Advertising through influencers

An influencer is someone with a large audience on social media. An example that almost everyone knows is Enzo Knol (vlogger). These influencers have such a large audience behind them, who watch their videos on YouTube or social media every day, that it is interesting for companies to do business with. The influencer then promotes a product or service to its audience to gain more brand awareness or conversion.

As a pandemic is underway, the use of telephones, tablets, computers, etc. is increasing and increasing. screen times are indeed increasing, which in turn offers opportunities for promoting products/services. Since more social media is also used (20% more), it is attractive for companies to do this via influencers. The audience that appears on these forums is also the target group they have in mind. All they have to do is find the right influencer and then have them promote their products/services.

Hyperautomation

Automation is a concept that is becoming increasingly common in production processes. Products by repeating machines having it made are of course much faster than humans can do it. The same number of products are therefore made in a much shorter time, which benefits the effectiveness.

It is not only useful for production-related companies to start automating, but also for all kinds of other types of companies. For example, BOL.com could b ecustomer service run a lot better by making the first part of the conversation automatic in the chat function.

artificial intelligence

artificial intelligence(AI), or artificial intelligence, is a concept that is becoming increasingly common in our lives. It means that computers are so 'intelligent' that they can take over work from humans, after which these tasks are also improved by the computer itself. Making products by machine has been possible for a while, but the part where the computer can add extra value to a process is still fairly new.

Siri is a great example of an AI. The computer responds to the name that is called and can then switch to the requested service.

smartwatches

Smartwatches are increasingly used in different sectors, e.g. in the concern†, You see these smartwatches appearing more and more in the streets of the consumer. The smartwatch is a watch that is a kind of the second phone. WhatsApp messages can be read on this, and your heart rate and burns can be tracked during fitness. These are 2 examples of the many functions of such a smartwatch.
